Hermosillo welcomes L’Étape by Tour de France

Hermosillo is preparing to experience L’Étape by Tour de France—one of the world’s premier amateur cycling events—for the very first time. On October 18, 2026, over a thousand cyclists from home and abroad will arrive in the Sonoran capital to ride its streets and discover a destination that blends sport, culture, gastronomy, and nature.

The official press conference for L’Étape Hermosillo was held yesterday, where authorities, organizers, and representatives from the sports and tourism sectors highlighted the importance of hosting this international event in Sonora.

The L’Étape Hermosillo route will allow cyclists to discover some of the city’s most iconic landmarks while taking on the challenge of riding in the spirit and to the standards of the Tour de France. The 113 km, 88 km, and 30 km distances are designed to accommodate cyclists of all levels, inviting a wide range of riders to join the celebration.

With L’Étape Hermosillo, the city puts itself on the international sports tourism map, opening its doors to cyclists, families, and visitors seeking a unique experience.

Hermosillo is ready to welcome the world on two wheels. The arrival of L’Étape Hermosillo is made possible through the support of the Government of Sonora and the Hermosillo Municipal Government, both of which have embraced sports tourism as a way to showcase the state and attract visitors from across Mexico and around the globe.

During the event, participants can enjoy a city renowned for its hospitality and an identity deeply rooted in the Sonoran Desert. Its cuisine, landscapes, sunsets, and rich traditions make Hermosillo an ideal destination to complement the sporting experience.

"I would highlight that these are family-friendly, safe events for those joining us—events that obviously allow us to showcase to the world the richness we have in Hermosillo: its people, its cuisine, and the beauty and landscapes of our city—all of which I am certain we will be able to enjoy this October 18th."
